Tim Collins and Malou Meyenhofer's project began in November 2008. Originally it was a weekly dance camp for a group of 30 Adivasi (Tribal) girls from the village Khambhacha Phada, located in a national park on the outskirts of Mumbai.

The initial camp was a great success and Inspired by the results with the children gaining confidence in dance, English and in themselves, Tim and Malou returned to Switzerland in 2009 to found the association Dance Across Cultures.
