The Khambacha Phada Village Project

Our project began in November 2008. We created a weekly dance camp for a group of 30 Adivasi (Tribal) girls from the village Khambhacha Phada, located in a national park on the outskirts of Mumbai. Their village is poor, water is scarce and food is struggled for. With little educational opportunity these children don’t have a way lift themselves out of their situation.

The film ‘The Adivasi Shim Sham’ is based on the initial project.  The results have been inspiring. The children gain confidence in dance and English, and more importantly, in themselves.

And now our work must continue.  In order to give real opportunity to these children, they must have the opportunity to learn, and they must feel safe in their village. We will be sponsoring every child to go to school and making great improvements to their school facilities. We also will be aiding with medical check-ups, an emergency fund, and more.
